Being a Beaver

When you join Beavers, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things. Here’s everything you need to know.

Learn the Lingo

Sections – Scouting is made up six sections; Squirrels; Beavers, Cubs; Scouts, Explorers and Network. A child/young person moves up the section as they got older and the activities and opportunities provide reflect that age range; All Sections earn badges, take part in sleepovers and outdoor activities.

Woggle – this is a device used to loosely secure the scarf around the next to a Beaver colony.

Necker – this is a scarf that your child will wear when in uniform.

Lodges – when at their weekly meeting, your child may be split into smaller groups, to carry out acitivies and tasks together. These smaller groups are referred to as Lodges in Scouting.

Uniform and badge placement
